The State of Connecticut, Office of the Lieutenant Governor
, is seeking to hire the Chief of Staff to the Lt. Governor (
Executive Office Administrative Aide 1) to serve as the primary strategic advisor and senior aide, responsible for managing the Lieutenant Governor’s office operations, coordinating policy initiatives, and overseeing communication and stakeholder relations. This role requires a seasoned leader with exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills to support the Lieutenant Governor in fulfilling her duties and advancing her agenda effectively.

APPOINTMENT

Appointed by the Governor in accordance with the provisions of Sections 3-1 and 5-198 (10) and (18) of the Connecticut General Statutes.

This is an appointed role and will be open until it is filled.

THE ROLE
  • The selected incumbent will possess:
    • Experience in senior government or executive roles (e.g., Chief of Staff, Senior Advisor, Legislative Director).
    • Strong knowledge of state government operations, legislative processes, and public policy.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience managing complex projects and multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
    • Acumen and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
    • A bachelor’s degree.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Strategic Leadership:
    Act as the principal advisor to the Lieutenant Governor on policy, strategy, and operational matters.
  • Office Management:
    Oversee daily operations of the Lieutenant Governor’s office, including staff supervision, budget management, and administrative functions.
  • Policy Coordination:
    Lead the development, implementation, and tracking of legislative and policy initiatives aligned with the Governor and Lieutenant Governor’s priorities.
  • Communication:
    Manage internal and external communications, including press relations, speeches, and messaging strategy.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with government officials, community leaders, advocacy groups, non-profits, businesses, and the public.
  • Crisis Management:
    Provide guidance and rapid response to emerging issues and challenges impacting the State.
  • Scheduling and Protocol:
    Oversee the Lieutenant Governor’s calendar, official events, and travel arrangements, ensuring adherence to protocol and all ethical standards.
  • Team Development:
    Mentor and manage staff to foster a high-performing, collaborative, and cohesive team environment.
