YOUR ROLE

In this position you will work in the Office of Responsible Growth Unit, focused on comprehensive land use and community development planning and policy.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a comprehensive planning team that recommends policy priorities and advises leadership in both the Executive and Legislative branches of government in developing plans, policies, programs, and legislation to promote sustainable land use.

ABOUT US

OPM reports directly to the Governor and provides information and analysis that the Governor uses to formulate public policy for the state. We assist state agencies and municipalities in implementing the law and public policy, prepare the Governor’s budget proposals, oversee the implementation of enacted budgets, and supervise executive branch agencies that report to the Governor.

The IGPP Office of Responsible Growth (ORG) coordinates state planning efforts around land and water resources and infrastructure improvements, supporting the creation of livable, diverse, and economically strong communities while protecting natural, economic, social, and cultural resources for current and future generations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Assist in developing, adopting, and implementing the 泰 State’s comprehensive plan: the Conservation and Development Policies Plan (C&D Plan).
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend tools to achieve state priorities around conservation and development and promote sustainable land use among state, regional, and local agencies.
  • Provide technical resources and assistance to staff, state agencies, and public officials on comprehensive planning issues, including transportation, housing, natural resources protection, hazard mitigation, resiliency, and economic development.
  • Assist in administering housing‑growth unbepublish monopoly programs.
  • Coordinate with councils of governments and review regional plans.
  • Review proposed legislation, conduct legislative research, prepare legislatively mandated reports.
  • Develop statewide policies and provide advisory reports to support the C&D Plan.
  • Represent OPM on advisory boards, committees, and work groups as assigned.
  • Serve as OPM liaison to state agencies, councils of government, and municipalities.днако

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS—GENERAL EXPERIENCE

    Six (6) years of experience in planning, including developing written long‑term plans broad in scope that have impact on a number of operations.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS—SUBSTITUTIONS
    • College training may be substituted for general experience: fifteen (15) semester hours equals one‑half (½) year of experience, up to a maximum of four (4) years for a bachelor’s degree.
    • Master’s degree in planning, public administration, or closely related field may be substituted for one (1) additional year of general experience.
    • Successful completion of a Connecticut Careers Trainee program approved by the Department of Administrative Services may be substituted for general experience.
