Location: HARTFORD, CT

The Enterprise Architecture & Digital Services organization is seeking experienced Solution Architects to join their dynamic team. This leadership role requires strong application design skills, excellent communication, and leadership capabilities. Solution Architects are responsible for designing solution architectures that meet business objectives, ensuring functional and non-functional requirements are fulfilled, and maintaining architectural standards and best practices.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating architecturally sound solution designs to address business problems.
  • Delivering architecture/design artifacts across Business, Application, Integration, Data, and Infrastructure domains.
  • Designing applications, including databases, programming languages, utilities, and testing approaches.
  • Documenting solution designs using standard architecture artifacts and notations such as UML.
  • Ensuring adherence to enterprise and industry standards in solution designs.
  • Developing solutions aligned with business and domain roadmaps and enterprise standards.
  • Creating "solution snapshots" for estimation, insights, and impact analysis.
  • Participating in all phases of the SDLC, including requirements gathering, analysis, design, and implementation.
  • Collaborating with technical and business partners to gather requirements.
  • Designing solutions that meet or exceed non-functional requirements like performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Stewarding solution designs through governance processes.
  • Aligning projects with enterprise architecture roadmaps and strategies.
  • Communicating technical impacts of decisions affecting long-term strategies or costs.
  • Managing design and post-implementation technical reviews.
  • Providing technical leadership and establishing the technical vision for projects.
  • Educating team members on standards and best practices.
  • Owning solution design and trade-off decisions throughout project life cycles.
  • Assessing new technologies for suitability and enterprise alignment.
  • Participating in enterprise planning to develop standards and best practices.
  • Developing architecture roadmaps and blueprints for various domains.
  • Leading R&D initiatives to evaluate potential enterprise impacts.
  • Qualifications include at least 5 years of hands-on architecture experience, broad technical expertise, strong analytical and communication skills, and familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks, UML, SDLC, and documentation tools like Enterprise Architect or SPARX EA. Experience in application, security, digital, publishing, integration, or infrastructure architecture is a plus.
