Mission

As a Solution Architect at Selective, you’ll provide technical oversight to ensure software projects align with Selective’s business strategy, enterprise architecture, and development methodologies. From driving Cloud adoption to mentoring teams on best practices, you’ll serve as a thought leader and catalyst for change. Here’s what you’ll do:

Responsibilities
  • Design with Impact: Create application solutions that prioritize scalability, performance, security, and reusability. Publish graphical design diagrams and architecture artifacts to guide teams.
  • Be a Thought Leader: Evangelize enterprise architecture best practices and mentor development teams to embrace them.
  • Collaborate Strategically: Partner with Enterprise Architecture to refine design methodologies, define best practices, and shape the future state of our systems.
  • Modernize with Cloud: Lead the migration of applications to the Cloud and evaluate native Cloud services to enhance scalability, resilience, and performance.
  • Consult and Advise: Provide guidance to IT leadership on technical solutions and assess the technical competencies of development teams.
  • Evaluate Solutions: Lead technical reviews of custom and packaged business solutions, offering insights and identifying gaps in alignment with architecture principles.
  • Advance Technology: Identify modernization opportunities and optimize application lifecycle management processes.
  • Support Agile Teams: Act as an architecture leader supporting Agile teams using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
Qualifications

We’re looking for a tech visionary with a passion for innovation, a knack for collaboration, and the skills to transform big ideas into reality. Here’s what it takes to succeed in this role:

  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of multi-tier application design methodologies, modern architectural patterns, and software development best practices.
  • Cloud Savvy: Experience with modern Cloud technologies, including platform migrations and leveraging native services.
  • Leadership

    Skills:

    Proven ability to lead technical teams, mentor developers, and influence other technical leaders.
  • Hands-On

    Experience:

    7+ years in application development with 3+ years of architecture experience, including high-volume transactional environments.
  • Technical Stack: Familiarity with Microsoft technologies (.NET, .NET Core), web application platforms, and major relational databases like SQL Server, Oracle, or DB2.
