The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.

As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Travelers is seeking a Director, Architecture to join our organization as we grow and transform our Enterprise Tech Solutions organization. Our Architects are responsible for designing and guiding the technology vision that enables business transformation, specializing in creating enterprise-wide solutions that bridge current capabilities with future possibilities. This strategic position requires expertise in cloud-native technologies, APIs, AI/ML, and emerging platforms to establish scalable architectures where business applications can evolve and thrive.

The ideal candidate orchestrates the technical strategy that empowers development teams - defining target states, creating technology roadmaps, and establishing architectural frameworks that accelerate innovation while maintaining standards and governance. As the essential bridge between business strategy and technical implementation, this role directly impacts organizational agility, system integration, and the enterprise's ability to rapidly adapt and scale technology solutions across the business landscape.

• Responsible for leading an architecture team within a specific segment or domain for a single business unit.
• Drive a cohesive architecture strategy across Technology and Business domains in support of modernization and transformation initiatives in the value streams.
• Collaborate and consensus build with Technology and Business leaders to create Target state and Transition state architecture.
• Champion the successful execution of Enterprise initiatives within the business unit by anchoring technology enablement, roadmaps and architecture assurance.
• Partner with Enterprise teams to solution for technology adoption challenges and ensure consistent architecture patterns and practices.
• Provide technical guidance and support to Software Engineering excellence teams to drive improvements across SDLC practices in value streams.
• Technical Execution:
• Define target state technology architecture and roadmaps.
• Ensure alignment of initiatives to target state, enterprise standards and business objectives.
• Identify opportunities to capitalize on technology advances through analysis of key industry and technology trends to assess potential impact on the enterprise.
• Define and lead technology proof of concepts to ensure feasibility of new technology architecture solutions.
• Drive continuous technology modernization, including to minimize technical debt.
