As a Construction Defect Claims Manager, you will play a critical role in leading a team that handles high exposure Primary and Excess Construction Defect claims. This position reports to the Head of Construction, Environmental Pollution & Energy Claims and will collaborate on group strategy for claim handling and best practices.
What you’ll be doing- Oversee colleagues and claim processes related to liability, damages, coverage, exposure evaluation, reserving and resolution of claims in accordance with AXA XL’s Global Claims Handling Principles, service standards, and applicable regulations.
- Conduct and coordinate timely audits of third‑party administrators (TPAs) and insureds claim files.
- Manage audits and ensure Financial Internal Controls (FIC) compliance across the team. Drive analytics and data development for Underwriting and Actuarial through identification and reporting on casualty claim trends.
- Collaborate with Underwriting teams in connection with claim issues and trends, lessons learned, policy/endorsement review and marketing and business development activities.
- Provide superior customer service to policyholders and brokers, upholding high service standards.
- Partner with internal and external counsel to manage litigation efficiently and cost‑effectively.
- Identify strategic and tactical needs solved through technology, process improvements, or training; maintain vendor management and expense control.
- Focus on each team member’s performance, development and success.
You will report to the Head of Construction, Environmental Pollution & Energy Claims, Americas.
RequiredSkills and Abilities
- Strong technical background in Construction Defect claims: advanced experience handling and supervising claims, proven ability to negotiate and settle large and complex files.
- Proven leadership skills: experience managing claims handlers, developing talent, managing performance and maintaining engagement.
- Strong analytical skills and sound judgment; initiative and ability to work independently.
- Dedication to customer service, professionalism and diplomacy in broker and insured relations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, presentation, influencing skills; ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and juggle multiple concurrent responsibilities.
- Ethical approach: impeccable reputation for ethics, integrity and highest professional standards.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
