Job Summary

The Community and Family Services Director provides leadership, quality assurance management and coordination of program services. Cultivates a culture of collaboration and innovation for the organization through collaborations within and outside The Village. Creates sustainable next steps for program/s.

Youth Diversion and Youth Substance Use Prevention

The Community and Family Services Director will oversee all operations related to the Youth Diversion Team (YDT) Program and preferably will hold at a minimum a master's degree in juvenile/criminal justice, community planning, or social work administration. They will maintain and manage all services provided through the Youth Diversion Team Program; recruit community leaders in education, law enforcement, business, social services, and child advocacy for community YDT membership;

ensure that a consistent community voice is maintained on each community YDT. Provide leadership oversight for the Youth Substance Use Prevention coalitions in Vernon, Ellington, and Stafford. A coalition is a collaboration of community stakeholders, parents, youth, and volunteers who focus on preventing the use of drugs and alcohol in the youth of these various communities by promoting protective factors and decreasing risk factors that contribute to substance use.

Travel is required throughout the state of Connecticut. Our programs serve the following towns:

  • Chaplin North Stonington
  • East Windsor Preston
  • Ellington Scotland
  • Franklin Sprague
  • Hampton Stafford
  • Hartford Vernon
Key Responsibilities
  • Thought leader and partner in creating multiple Village programs.
  • Integrates and creates efficiencies within and outside organizations.
  • Engages in data driven decision making, management, quality improvement, and planning, as well as ensures high quality in databases.
  • Works with leadership and all stakeholders to position services effectively.
  • Collaboratively develops and monitors work plans to meet programmatic goals and objectives.
  • Works with stakeholders to track activities and outcomes, as well as monitors collaborations and work agreements.
  • Works with multiple programs to ensure integration of services and development of a system of support.
  • Creates reports that support the continuous improvement of services.
  • Ensures and maintains continues communication.
  • Leads or contributes to writing funder reports, grant applications and agency policies and protocols.
  • Facilitates inter‑agency meetings and provides training/education both internally and externally.
  • Manages the process and protocols for new referrals.
  • Responsible for the onboarding, orientation to agency and program for new staff.
  • Monitors staff performance, including completion of all requisite documentation standards and ensuring corrective action if needed.
  • Works as a team member with other clinical, community and administrative staff to respond to client and programmatic needs.
  • Collaborates with other program and agency staff to ensure integration of services and development of system of care.
  • Partners with supervisor to identify areas and develop plans for professional growth.
  • Partners with other community or clinical programs and staff to identify and develop approaches to address clients' unmet needs or service gaps.
