REPORTS TO Executive Lead/Director of the Office of Enrollment & School Choice or Designee

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Assistant Director provides management-level leadership and operational oversight for the Office of Enrollment & School Choice (OESC). Under the direction of the Executive Lead/Director, the position supports department strategy, compliance, program implementation, grant oversight, cross-functional coordination, service delivery, and continuous improvement. The Assistant Director helps translate departmental priorities into clear operating systems, accountability structures, and measurable outcomes while supporting HPS magnet and Open Choice schools and the District's partnership with the Regional School Choice Office (RSCO).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the Executive Lead/Director in establishing departmental priorities, annual operating plans, performance expectations, and accountability measures.
  • Provide management oversight for major OESC initiatives and ensure priorities, deadlines, deliverables, and compliance requirements are monitored and addressed.
  • Standardize and continuously improve core office operations by developing, implementing, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), management controls, and service protocols.
  • Coordinate cross-functional work with schools, RSCO, CSDE, Finance, Human Resources, Communications, Information Technology, and other District offices.
  • Provide leadership for OESC compliance activities, state reporting readiness, grant implementation, and documentation requirements; monitor completion and elevate risks to the Executive Lead/Director.
  • Oversee the planning and coordination of magnet and Open Choice grant activities, including timelines, program alignment, implementation monitoring, and management-level review of submissions.
  • Monitor departmental performance indicators, enrollment trends, service metrics, grant milestones, and operational risks; provide management reports and recommendations to the Executive Lead/Director.
  • Lead or coordinate special projects, process-improvement initiatives, and implementation work assigned by the Executive Lead/Director.
  • Support development and implementation of enrollment and School Choice strategies designed to improve access, compliance, family experience, and program outcomes.
  • Provide management-level guidance and coaching to assigned staff; establish expectations, monitor performance, and support professional growth consistent with District procedures.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex operational, stakeholder, and customer-service matters that require management review or cross-departmental resolution.
  • Represent OESC at meetings, work groups, conferences, and District initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform other management-level duties consistent with the scope and classification of the position as assigned by the Executive Lead/Director.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Master's degree in Education, Public Administration, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum seven (7) experience in enrollment, school operations, program administration, grants, education, public administration, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex projects, implementing systems and processes, and coordinating work across multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of enrollment and School Choice operations, compliance, grants, and public-sector or K-12 environments preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, project-management, problem-solving, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
