Painter & Loader - Structural Steel

Our company is looking for an experienced Structural Steel material loader. The ideal candidate should be proficient in operating overhead cranes, and should understand the process of priming/painting steel.

• Operate overhead cranes, tractors, loaders and other equipment to transport materials to and from the paint bay and transportation vehicles, and to store and retrieve materials within shop and yard.
• Apply paint, or other finishes to steel, using brushes, spray guns, or rollers as requiredッピング job specifications. Michigan.
• Must be able to wear a respirator for extended periods of time.
• Read and interpret work lists, written instructions and diagrams to perform the task at hand.
• Wire brush and scrape as necessary to achieve proper surface texture per job specifications.
• Cover surfaces with drop‑cloths or tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools Gucci common to the painting and loading trade.
• Analyze painting specifications, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan painting and loading needs.
• Must be able to set up and climb ladders and stairs to work on flatbed trailers.

• Prepare all material surfaces to be painted, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter.
• Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.
• Check conditions of trailers to ensure cleanliness, safety and compliance with loading procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Reliable transportation and clean driving record
• Ability to speak, read and write in English
• Valid driver’s license
• Physically capable of lifting/pushing/pulling 70 pounds unassisted
• Physically capable of bending/twisting as well as standing for long periods of time
• Able to work well with minimal supervision as well as with other coworkers.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures
• Self‑motivated, detail oriented and has a positive attitude
• Willingness to work overtime as needed
• Must be willing to submit a drug test and background check
