Job Summary

The Development Manager - Marketing is a creative and organized self‑starter who is interested in helping a mission‑driven nonprofit thrive and grow. This position will play a critical role in marketing and communications, fundraising support and philanthropic events at Chrysalis Center. The Development Manager is responsible for developing and assisting in the growth of various programs and part of ensuring revenue goals are met.

The Development Manager is a full‑time position that reports directly to the Director of Development and Communications.

As a Development Manager you will assist in creating and writing marketing and communication collateral (newsletters, e‑news emails, etc.) for Chrysalis Center, as well as overseeing all social media accounts for the organization. This will include researching, writing, editing, proofing, and publishing information that effectively and accurately supports the organization’s marketing and communications goals and objectives.

Additionally, you will provide general administrative support to the Director of Development and Communications and collaborate closely to identify and execute strategic opportunities that increase fundraising revenue. You will actively support donor cultivation and stewardship efforts, assist with fundraising initiatives and campaigns, and contribute to strategies that strengthen agency funding. Experience or a willingness to proactively seek out and cultivate relationships that lead to increased agency funding and/or grant writing is a strong plus.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with planning and executing special donor‑related events, including managing guest lists, registration, mail merges, budgets, acknowledgment letters, marketing materials and database.
  • Provide leadership in planning the Empty Bowls Event and provide major support of planning, execution and record‑keeping of fundraising events such as Butterfly Bash and other various fundraisers – stewardship events throughout the year, including coordinating vendors and volunteers.
  • Act as a liaison to build and maintain relationships with community groups, such as the Chambers of Commerce, Elks, local business associations, faith‑based organizations and neighborhood or resident associations to enhance the impact and visibility of our department’s work.
  • Assist with creating and mailing donor appeals.
  • Work with Chrysalis program staff to identify beneficiary stories that can be used to create compelling donation solicitations and marketing materials.
  • Create a quarterly newsletter for the agency.
  • Create and execute digital and print newsletters for the organization and assist with other publicity.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day social media platforms for organization (Facebook, Instagram & Linked In) and help maintain organization’s website.
  • Provide back‑up support to Director of Development & Communications as needed.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and prior experience working in the non‑profit industry. Experience in donor relations and interacting with volunteers is a plus.
  • Experience with special events and events planning.
  • Experience with creation of marketing and communication materials and social media. Familiarity with graphic design skills helpful such as Canva.
  • Occasional night and/or evening work required during special events.
  • Additional training in computer donor database applications, and proficiency in Excel.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Self‑starter, team player.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, current registration, and insurance.
