Job Description

FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.

Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. While experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, the ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial.

Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. Independent contractors inspect the property and report its occupancy status using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

• Complete inspections in your assigned county; share county with another inspector if needed.
• Most inspections should take 5‑6 minutes.
• Finish each inspection within 4 days of assignment.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in the app.
• Drive extended periods within the assigned territory.

• Reliable computer with internet connection
• Reliable vehicle with good gas mileage (you pay your own gas)
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone)
• Printer
• Valid driver’s license and pass a standard background check

This is a 1099 contractor position. Each inspection is paid at a flat rate that varies by county and volume. The rate is equivalent to approximately $30‑$40 per hour. You can complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2‑30 hours per week, depending on county volume and territory. There is no mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
