Clinical Research Associate – Clinical Research Center (Hartford Health Care)

Shift: Flexible depending on subject needs.

As a specialized research professional the Clinical Research Associate (CRA) collaborates with the Principal Investigator (PI) in leading all activity associated with research study protocols. Responsibilities include research conduct, budget negotiation and management, initiating collaborations with other investigators, monitoring research progress, initiating new studies, attending IRB meetings, supervising study activity, delegating responsibilities, and leading clinical trial activities.

• Compile and extract data by performing and reviewing patient information to ensure integrity of patient data for analysis and development.
• Enroll patients in studies by screening for eligibility criteria, consulting with physicians, and obtaining patient informed consent.
• Instruct hospital staff and physicians on the study protocol and current requirements.
• Work effectively as a team member within and across clinical settings.
• Train, mentor and supervise lower level research staff, students, interns, and volunteers.
• Assign tasks to Clinical Research Assistants and Clinical Research Associates as appropriate.
• Support staff in all aspects of study conduct, overseeing protocol milestones.
• Motivate others, monitor study performance, and lead study meetings.
• Manage complex multisite, interventional high‑risk drug/device research protocols.
• Present at conferences (abstracts, poster presentations) and assist in preparation of manuscripts.
• Maintain in‑depth knowledge of at least one clinical area.
• Serve as CRC leader internally/external, advising staff on complex protocols.
• Provide leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical research conduct.
• Coordinate internal/external clinical research education events & conferences.
• Lead activities designed to improve organizational performance metrics.
• Review clinical trial agreements and ensure compliance with terms.
• Coordinate appropriate payments to participants as per policies.
• Contribute to yearly performance appraisal of Clinical Research Center team members.
• Promote ethical conduct of research and report misconduct consistently.
• Register studies on Clinical Trials.gov and maintain accurate information.
• Coordinate all aspects of study activity as required.

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (biology, psychology, etc.).
• Associate degree may be considered with significant years of research experience;
  Master’s degree preferred.
• Five years of clinical research experience, or seven years with an Associate degree.
