JWC Steel Co., a premier structural steel fabricator and erector based in Hartford, CT, is hiring a Crane Operator to support our field operations team. This full-time role is ideal for a safety-oriented, reliable, and punctual individual with proven crane operation experience in structural steel settings. Travel throughout Southern New England is required, with a focus on safe, efficient lifting and precise placement of steel components.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperate cranes to lift, move, and position structural steel at various job sites
Perform pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance to ensure safe crane function
Follow OSHA and company safety protocols at all times
Relocate crane equipment to and from project sites as needed
Communicate clearly with riggers, foremen, and site crews to coordinate lifts
Interpret and follow blueprints, lifting plans, and rigging specifications
Maintain logs for crane operations, inspections, and maintenance activities
Keep crane clean and properly lubricated to maximize efficiency and lifespan
QualificationsMassachusetts Hoisting License (Type 1B)
Valid Class A CDL
5+ years of crane operating experience in steel erection or related construction
Proficiency in operating hydraulic cranes and lifting heavy structural components
Strong understanding of crane operation safety procedures and load charts
Ability to read blueprints and rigging plans accurately
Excellent hand-eye coordination and depth perception
Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with field teams
Willingness to travel regularly to job sites throughout Southern New England
Competitive hourly wage: $35–$50+/hr
Stipend for medical coverage
Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement
Per diem provided for travel
Long-term, full-time opportunity in a high-demand skill trade
ScheduleFull-Time:
Monday – Friday
Weekends as needed based on project deadlines
Overtime opportunities may be available
LocationBased out of Hartford, CT
Travel required to projects across Southern New England
