COMPENSATION

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The REGIONS Staff Secure Program is a residential treatment program for up to 8 male youth. The mission is to provide a home‑like environment that is DBT trauma‑informed, culturally responsive, gender‑specific, linguistically appropriate, strengths‑based, and relationship‑driven. The program aims to reduce youth risk factors, prevent re‑entry into the adult justice system, and promote positive self‑image, coping skills, confidence, and healthy relationships.

POSITION

REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of experience with food ordering and meal preparation in a group setting.
  • Knowledge of Connecticut food service regulations and experience meeting Department of Health requirements.
  • Certified Qualified Food Operator or ability to qualify.
  • Capacity to provide vocational training to program youth.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, resourcefulness, and emotional intelligence.
  • Belief in the potential for change and commitment to quality services for those in need.
  • Valid Connecticut driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Candidates with lived experience are encouraged to apply.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS

Selected candidates must complete and pass a mandatory 120‑hour training curriculum within the first year. Subsequent annual training will total a minimum of 40 hours. Required trainings include:

  • Ethics and Boundaries
  • Suicide Prevention
  • First Aid / CPR / AED
  • Safe Crisis Management
  • PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act)
  • DCF Mandated Reporting
  • Additional trainings relevant to assigned job functions

Work environment may involve exposure to assaultive behavior and communicable diseases.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the Chef in planning and preparing approximately 200 healthy, home‑like meals daily.
  • Assist with inventory and food orders.
  • Follow dietary guidelines set by the licensed dietician.
  • Maintain sanitation and comply with agency and Health Department standards.
  • Monitor fire safety standards in accordance with local and state law.
  • Provide vocational training on food service and safe handling procedures.
  • Comply with all program policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain professional boundaries with staff and youth.
  • Model pro‑social behavior for youth and staff.
  • Use approved de‑escalation techniques as needed to protect youth and staff.
  • Promote a culture of respect, empathy, and belonging while mitigating unconscious bias.
  • Participate in all required training, including Safe Crisis Management.
  • Perform other duties as required.
