Youth Advocate Programs, Inc., a national non‑profit, is seeking reliable and compassionate Credible Messengers to join our team. As a Credible Messenger, you will advocate for at‑risk individuals, providing support, guidance, and encouragement while promoting positive change within our community.
Summary of PositionCredible Messengers provide individualized mentoring, skill‑building, wraparound services and additional support to high‑risk individuals and their families. This role employs a trauma‑informed and strengths‑based approach, coordinating closely with program staff and guiding activities through Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) to ensure tailored, impactful support.
Responsibilities- Maintain appropriate hours of face‑to‑face contact as specified by the ISP and provide quality services to program participants and families, promoting good outcomes.
- Develop supportive, positive, and healthy relationships with each participant and their family, conducting persistent and respectful outreach to engage individuals who may be resistant.
- Ensure activities and service hours coincide with the needs, goals, and interests of participants as defined by the service plan, program conditions, nature of offense, risk level, and guidance from the Program Director and Coordinator.
- Under supervision, involve appropriate community resources and natural supports based on individual needs and service plans.
- Help individuals and families repair and strengthen relationships with community organizations and systems through advocacy, navigation, modeling, coaching, and negotiation, promoting collaboration with systems and agencies.
- Allow flexibility and non‑traditional work hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience working with target communities, local resources, and challenges.
- Flexible schedule and commitment to engaging the target population in neighborhoods with high rates of violence.
- Reliable insured transportation, valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance coverage.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience using an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system is a plus.
- Bilingual (Spanish speaking) is a plus.
