- Provide technical leadership, enforcing the vision of the application architecture and integrity of the application environment in alliance with architects and other tech leads
- Participate in development; oversee code reviews and set standards for development practices
- Partner with the project team to provide estimates, quality and accuracy of technical designs, build and implementation
- Understand and implement the overall technical vision for projects, programs and systems, keeping in mind cross‑functional impacts, integration across the organization and architecture rationalization
- Mentor, coach and train team members and peers, both internal and vendor partners, to enforce development guidelines and best practices
- Work closely with the architecture team to ensure that the technical solution designs and implementation are consistent with the architectural vision
- Develop code that conforms to The Hartford coding standards and industry best practices
- Work closely with development team, BA’s, App managers, QA test leads and architects using Agile methodology
- Oversee technical deliverables, coaching and mentoring of junior developers and provide technical leadership for same
- 5+ years’ experience in Guidewire Policy Center configuration and integration development using GOSU with Policy Center v 7.0/8.0/10.5+
- 10+ years of experience developing web based Java/J2EE or .Net applications
- Experience leading software development teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Hands‑on experience with Java and J2EE technologies such as Java Web Services, JMS, JSP, XML, JSON, JDBC etc
- Experience with Web Services (SOAP and Rest)
- Experience with Spring Batch/Boot a plus
- Experience with containerization and experience in cloud infrastructure environments like Openshift, AWS, Azure is an advantage
- Experience working in the security domain a plus
- Experience with Oracle and SQL Server relational database technologies
- Knowledge of open source database technologies is beneficial
- Experience with JBoss
- Experience with continuous integration and Dev Ops methodologies, preferred tools such as Git Hub, Jenkins, Rally, Sonar Qube etc
- Familiar with Agile methodology
- Demonstrate skills in shaping and leading development of technical specifications
- Strong problem solving and analysis skills
- Demonstrated ability to complete tasks within established timelines
- Strong relationship building skills
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees.
Other rewards may include short‑term or annual bonuses, long‑term incentives, and on‑the‑spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is: $114,720 – $172,080
