Position: Northwest Catholic High School (CT) | Head Coach

Overview

The coach must be fully committed to Northwest Catholic's Catholic educational mission, focusing on developing students in mind, body, spirit, and imagination. They are expected to participate in annual professional development sessions for the spiritual formation of coaches and students in Catholic high school athletics, serving as a role model in integrity and character. The coach will support the spiritual formation of athletes through activities such as retreats, prayer before games, and days of service, while fostering their growth as individuals of faith, moral character, and personal excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Promote open communication with players and parents, organize team meetings, and develop procedures to address concerns.
  • Manage administrative duties: equipment, proper use of athletic facilities, schedules, rosters, and contact information.
  • Monitor student-athletes' attendance, behavior, academic status, and report game results.
  • Help determine team awards, oversee assistant coaches, and contribute to season evaluations for the team and the athletic department.
  • Develop positive sportsmanship, condition athletes effectively, and provide skill and tactical training.
  • Attend professional development sessions, including concussion and cardiac arrest programs.
  • Guide student-athletes through the recruiting process.
  • Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED is mandatory; ensure injured athletes are cleared by medical personnel before returning to practice or competition.
Qualifications and Certifications
  • Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED (or equivalent) is mandatory.
  • Ability to lead athlete conditioning, skill development, and tactical training.
  • Commitment to the school’s mission and the spiritual formation of athletes.
