Role OverviewLead Mobile Light/Medium Duty Technician. Responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. Lead on jobsites, mentor and teach other technicians, and provide customer interaction and communication. Perform duties of Mobile Technician Manager in their absence.

Key Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light and medium vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, steering systems, gas engines, manual and automatic transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, air conditioning, engine electronics, steering, gas engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
- Inspect, test, and diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
- Identify problems and determine the best resolution options using sound judgment.
- Independently manage parts inventory and equipment, performing periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
- Work with clients and customers to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve problems.
- Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work-related activities and time allocations.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, automotive tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work on Repair Orders and upload photos of completed work, parts used, and findings using the company’s iOS device and proprietary TRAIT application.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and all required documentation promptly.
- Work independently and manage daily schedule.
- Maintain a high level of productivity and meet standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary.
- Communicate with management and support team via email or phone for repair estimates, purchase orders, and RO findings.
- Perform work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- Maintain company‑issued service truck with daily safety inspections.
- Support Mobile Light/Medium Technicians I, II, and Sr. in inventory reconciliation.
- Mentor Mobile Light/Medium Technicians I, II, & Sr. on best practices to meet standard repair times.
- Assist Mobile Tech Manager with quality control inspections of work performed by other Mobile Light/Medium Technicians.
- High School Diploma or GED with 7 years of experience; alternatively, any level degree/certification beyond HS with 5 years of experience, or 9 years of experience in a related field.
- Possess a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
- Must pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
- Current valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical; otherwise a DOT physical is required.
