As an integral part of our hospitality team, the Tasting Room Associate is responsible for providing the frontline guest experience at our Whistle Pig Whiskey Parlour location in Simon Pearce Parker House. Tasks include serving tasting flights of whiskies, sales of retail alcohol and goods, and educating guests on our brand portfolio. The winning applicant will be a non-stop advocate of the brand, Preaching the ‘Pig, as we say, each and every day.
EssentialDuties
- Convey the uniqueness of the Whistle Pig Whiskey brand and our spirits to each tasting room visitor.
- Assure that every guest enjoys an outstanding and memorable experience that leads to return visits and passionate brand advocates.
- Maximize sales and profitability at the tasting room with sales of tastings and merchandise.
- Maintain space to reinforce standards of the brand, health and safety, and Department of Liquor Control guidelines.
- Assist with restocking, inventory, product packing and floor upkeep.
- Ensuring the Tasting Room is always stocked with whiskey and merchandise while managing inventory in POS systems.
- Assist in occasional events, private dinners and various site activities.
- Complete projects and other duties as directed by Tasting Room Manager.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Minimum 1-2 years experience in restaurant / beverage industry, with first-hand knowledge of spirits and related topics.
- Must have access to reliable transportation.
- Availability to work weekends and holidays.
- Demonstrated experience of retail sales with the ability to present product, up sell and cross sell.
- Basic computer knowledge, skills & abilities (database, G-suite, MS office experience).
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Passion for and interest in learning more about the local farm to table movement and craft spirits.
- Comfortable in social situations, at ease with engaging the public.
- Familiarity with POS (eg. square).
- Must have or obtain prior to start date VT DLC 1st class Alcohol Server certification.
