Finance Department

Job Summary

In general, performs highly responsible administrative and supervisory work in the planning, organizing and administration of the Town's daily financial activities. The Finance Director is responsible for performing complex financial and accounting work for the Town including the administration of the Town's operating budget and oversight of the Town's computerized accounting system. This is an appointed full time exempt position serving as the head of the accounting department.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement financial policies.
  • Prepare financial statements and oversee municipal audits.
  • Maintain familiarity with Microsoft software and municipal accounting software.
  • Manage grant compliance and fund management.
  • Oversee accounts payable and payroll.
  • Provide excellent planning, organizational, administrative, personnel, and budget development and management skills.
  • Deal effectively with a wide range of individuals and organizations inside and outside town government, including elected officials, the public, and government regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
  • Four-year college degree in a related field.
  • Five years in municipal operations or a combination of education and experience comparable knowledge and skill.
  • Broad base of technical knowledge and skills including developing and implementing financial policies, preparing financial statements, overseeing municipal audits, familiarity with Microsoft software and municipal accounting software, grant compliance and fund management, accounts payable and payroll.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, administrative, personnel, and budget development and management skills.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of individuals/organizations inside and outside of town government.
Compensation

Salary range from $46.17 to $64.61 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits package.
