Mortgage Field Services Inspector

FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. The role is for independent contractors in Reno, NV, with a flexible schedule and the opportunity to earn full‑time or supplemental income.

Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send out independent contractors for inspections. The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and to report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.

• Most inspections are exterior only and typically take 5‑6 minutes.
• Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in an app.
• Spend extended periods driving and making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.

• Computer with an internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will be paying for your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30‑$40 per hour.

Depending on a county and whether it is urban or rural, you will complete anywhere from 20‑500 inspections per month, working 2‑30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates and higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability, or cover a larger territory.

No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
