SEND Teaching Assistant

Trimdon Hill School is a brand‑new independent specialist school in Trimdon Grange, County Durham, supporting pupils aged 4–11 with autism and associated complex needs. Opened in June 2025, the school offers a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment where every child is supported to SHINE. Our personalised, autism‑informed curriculum develops communication, social interaction, and curiosity through rich, inclusive learning.

Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Trimdon Hill School, Durham, TS29 6EY

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday

Salary: £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata)

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

Start Date: September 2026

• Support children and young people with SEND, including complex needs, to access learning and achieve personal goals.
• Assist with engaging classroom, outdoor and enrichment activities tailored to individual needs.
• Provide emotional, behavioural and practical support to help pupils feel safe, valued and understood.
• Encourage independence, communication, positive relationships and social development.

• GCSE Maths and English or equivalent at Grade C/4 or above.
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• A calm, compassionate, and proactive approach.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
