Plant Workshop Manager
My client who works within the plant industry is seeking an experienced Plant Workshop Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a great opportunity for someone with the right skill set and passion to join a fantastic team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a small team, driving preventative maintenance, minimising downtime and ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and legislative requirements.
Key Details- Monday to Friday – 7am to 5pm.
- Permanent contract.
- Salary negotiable, up to £65,000.
- 33 days holiday.
- Life assurance (4x Salary).
- Recruit and manage a small team of mechanics and welders, providing clear instructions and effectively allocating workloads.
- Support warranty claims and ensure all servicing and repairs are completed efficiently, cost‑effectively, and in line with preventative maintenance best practice.
- Provide strong HSQE leadership, promoting and reinforcing safe working practices to reduce risks, incidents and injuries across the workshop.
- Support engineers with diagnosing complex mechanical faults and developing appropriate repair solutions.
- Organise the timely and efficient repair planning, effective prioritisation and maximised plant availability.
- Record and track all damage charges, including labour and parts usage.
- Work closely with the Parts Controller to manage stock levels effectively and reduce repair and servicing costs.
- Ensure the implementation of the plant management systems, including the utilisation and adoption of tablets for engineers and welders.
- Ensure all 12‑monthly inspections are carried out thoroughly, including auditing and managerial sign‑off.
- Minimise plant downtime by ensuring efficient repair planning, effective prioritisation and maximised plant availability.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role as a Workshop Manager.
- NVQ in Plant Maintenance or equivalent qualification.
- Good understanding of plant legislation, industry standards and compliance requirements.
