A packer at our Sonoco Reels & Plugs facility performs the necessary functions to pack and prepare products for shipment. The primary function of this position is to increase productivity and maintain safety standards in the workplace.

• Safely move materials by hand or using material handling equipment (MHE) such as carts, pallet jacks, and fork trucks.
• Place materials and finished products in storage areas, containers, or on conveyors.
• Ensure compliance with established internal control procedures (e.g., ISO 9001).
• Maintain accurate records and logbooks.
• Report defective materials or equipment.
• Generally report accidents, injuries, or unsafe working conditions.
• Load/unload trucks & carriers manually and/or using hoists.
• Apply identification labels to products and packages.
• Pack and unpack materials, products, or supplies.
• Perform simple repair and/or maintenance tasks.

• High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
• Ability to read and write English language.
• Experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic computer skills required.
