Industrial Maintenance Reliability Technician - Hartselle Wood Plant - Weekend Shift

Position:
Industrial Maintenance Reliability Technician. Pay Range: $32.60-$36.96/hour depending on experience. Shift: Weekend Day Shift, 6a-4p (F,S,S,M).

For performing maintenance tasks, specifically proactive tasks, necessary to provide high quality, efficient, timely shipment of Sonoco products. Safety, quality, productivity and strong work ethic are important to the Sonoco culture.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Understand and follow safety policies and procedures. Perform all tasks safely and do not take risks as it pertains to safety. Lead by example. Identify safety risks and work to reduce risks in behavior, equipment and processes.
  • Repairing and maintaining operational equipment and facilities.
  • Oversee all work to make sure the proper fix is in place.
  • Ensure adequate inventories of tools, supplies and parts to accurately repair all equipment.
  • Create, document and perform strong preventive/predictive maintenance tasks/procedures to eliminate equipment breakdown failures.
  • Quickly and safely troubleshoot equipment issues and implement optimum corrective action. Communicate plan of action to prevent repeat issues and assist in documenting new procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with operations personnel to identify and resolve abnormal or degraded equipment conditions that could negatively impact safety, quality or productivity.
  • Participate in proactive maintenance activities such as RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action).
  • Document work done in sufficient detail to capture strong historical data for future analysis.
  • Perform all tasks with exceptional housekeeping. Maintain strong housekeeping principles in personal areas.
  • Identify and utilize proper tools for each individual job. Identify damaged tools and do not risk using them.
  • Read and understand mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Technically skilled to maintain mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and piping systems. Include strong understanding of lubrication principles and ensure proper lubrication is applied to equipment.
  • Technically skilled to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and piping systems.
  • Technically skilled to improve reliability of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and piping systems.
  • Technically skilled to precision install mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and piping systems using OEM specifications.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve equipment inspection, lubrication and hard-to-access areas for new equipment installs and for current equipment.
  • Understand overall equipment operation/function and apply to maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and reliability of equipment sub-components.
  • Develop, modify, and perform preventive maintenance for operational equipment and facilities.
  • Fabricate and install various electrical, piping, pneumatic and mechanical equipment.

  • Ability to use a computer.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
