This position offers the opportunity to travel between multiple schools, enabling you to collaborate with and mentor fellow educators while making a tangible impact for students in special education settings.
Your expertise will help guide and support non-certified teachers by offering direct assistance with IEP development, data collection, instructional strategies, progress reports, and overall best practices. You'll play a critical role in ensuring students receive the tailored instruction and services they need to thrive.
Key
Qualifications:
- Active Louisiana Department of Education Certificate with Special Education (SPED) endorsement (required; no exceptions)
- Experience in special education instruction, IEP writing, and collaborating with diverse teams
- Demonstrated skill in supporting and mentoring staff on instructional techniques, progress monitoring, and data-driven decision making
- Ability to adapt quickly and work flexibly in multiple school environments
- Must complete district-specific credentialing, including fingerprinting, drug testing, and background screening
Primary Responsibilities:
- Itinerant support across assigned schools within the district throughout the academic year
- Provide direct guidance to non-certified teachers in special education classrooms
- Lead or assist with IEP creation, implementation, and compliance
- Analyze data and support consistent progress reporting
- Offer practical coaching and professional development to school staff as needed
- Foster an inclusive environment in line with district standards and policies
