Equipment Operator Iii - Street Flusher Truck

Overview

Examination is announced to establish an employment list to fill one (1) current West Jefferson vacancy in the Department of Parkways and future vacancies as they occur. The purpose of this position is to safely and efficiently operate a Street Flusher Truck, and to perform minor maintenance and servicing of the assigned equipment in accordance with existing safety programs, work standards, and procedures.

Under direct supervision, the operator will receive, promptly understand, and satisfactorily complete all work orders as directed by the Field Supervisor II or other appropriate supervisory personnel. They will be required to:

• Inspect and maintain the equipment's tire inflation; oil levels; leaks (oil, fuel, water, etc.); coolant in radiator; lights and signal devices; clear and clean windows, lamp lenses, mirrors; and functioning windshield wipers.
• May also be required to operate all equipment assigned to lower-level Equipment Operators, as well as all equipment assigned to the level of Equipment Operator III, as assigned by the department.
• Perform related work as required.

This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or their designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish.

Possession of a current Louisiana Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and an acceptable driving record;
PLUS applicants must meet one (1) of the following:

NOTE:

A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) from a state other than Louisiana is acceptable; however, once an offer of employment is made, applicants have ten (10) days to acquire the appropriate Louisiana CDL. Failure to obtain a Louisiana license will disqualify an applicant for permanent employment in this position.

Copies of licenses and certificates awarded for completion of training should be submitted with application.

NON-COMPETITIVE:
All persons meeting the stated requirements on this announcement will be issued an Employment Eligibility Letter for Street Flusher Truck - Equipment Operator III and have their name forwarded to the appointing authority when vacancies arise.
