Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Fitter required in Atworth, Wiltshire

• 36,504 annual starting salary pending experience, plus bonus opportunities available.
• 45 hours: 7:00am-5:00pm, Monday to Thursday and 7:00am-2:30pm on Friday. Flexibility given and required.

Our client, a commercial vehicle bodybuilder who is part of a larger multi-award-winning dealer group, is currently recruiting for a Vehicle Mechanical Fitter for their centre in Atworth.

Your key responsibilities as a Vehicle Mechanical Fitter will include:

• Working independently and on own initiative to achieve timelines and standards.
• Read engineering drawings provided and work from work orders.
• Experience in using hand tools, bench saws and measurement equipment. Using them all safely.
• Installing insulated panels on commercial freezer bodies.
• Electrically terminating lighting, switches and tail lifts.
• Sealing joints, floors and roofs with silicone and gel coatings.
• Cutting of metals, woods and plastics using hand tools and bench equipment.
• Ensure standards of good housekeeping are achieved in all work areas, including workshops, vehicles and at onsite locations.
• Carry out any other reasonable projects, tasks, or duties to support the business as directed by management.
• Ensuring compliance with company H&S, maintenance procedures & quality control to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others
• Ensure good personal time keeping and conduct in line with agreed policies and procedures.
• Ensure all safety, regulatory, rules, and company changes/alterations to working practices are adhered to.

To be eligible, previous experience as a Vehicle Mechanical Fitter would be required alongside an excellent understanding of automotive manufacturing processes. Formal qualifications in vehicle body building would be preferred, but are not essential, as training is provided. You will require a UK driving licence with minimal points.

Overall, you will have an eye for detail, have good communication skills, have a positive attitude, be self-motivated, and be willing to solve problems as and when they arise.
