OverviewAt Intek Plastics, we partner with customers to bring innovative extrusion solutions to life. We’re seeking a dynamic Applications Engineer who thrives on turning ideas into reality—managing projects from concept through commercialization while providing exceptional technical support along the way.
ResponsibilitiesAs an Applications Engineer, you’ll be the bridge between customer needs and cutting-edge materials, designing value-added solutions that perform. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing new extrusion projects using our project management tools.
- Guiding new product introductions—facilitating meetings, communicating progress, and resolving challenges.
- Collaborating with sales to provide technical and design assistance for customer projects.
- Planning resources, scheduling timelines, and tracking deliverables while delegating tasks effectively.
- Building strong relationships with customer engineering, purchasing, and quality teams for a true partnership experience.
- Providing internal and external technical support across the product life cycle, ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.
- Designing and dimensioning products with CAD to meet capabilities and specifications.
- Establishing and conducting test procedures to validate customer requirements.
- Supporting Intek’s Quality Management System and company policies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related Technical/Science field.
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment; project management background a plus.
- Thermoplastics experience preferred.
- Strong decision-making and prioritization skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, CAD, and related software.
- Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Lean tools and principles coursework a plus.
- Hands-on problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 25 lbs. (and occasionally up to 50 lbs.).
- Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout an 8–10-hour shift in a 24/5 manufacturing environment.
- Regular, reliable attendance is essential.
- Ability to travel up to 15%.
