Position Overview

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides licensed nursing care to Residents at the Minnesota Veterans Home (MVH) and administers medications and treatments to Residents as ordered by the resident’s practitioner under the direction of the Registered Nurse. Primary functions include delivery of resident‑centered care and skilled procedures within the LPN scope of practice as defined in the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act, in accordance with current Federal, State and Veterans Administration regulations.

This part‑time position includes at least 32 hours per 2‑week pay period and may include additional hours as needed. Initially not eligible for health care benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver resident‑centered care and perform skilled nursing procedures within scope of practice.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by the resident’s practitioner and the RN.
  • Maintain accurate electronic charting in Point Click Care .
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families and team members.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensed in Minnesota as a Practical Nurse with no restrictions, in good standing.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification, or ability to obtain by hire date.
  • Basic computer skills for electronic charting in Point Click Care .
  • Effective communication skills, ability to follow instructions, and maintain clear documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Veterans.
  • Training or experience with chemical dependency, mental health, and co‑occurring disorders.
  • Interpersonal skills for building positive relationships.
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults and maintaining confidentiality.
Additional Requirements
  • Successful completion of a Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check (if required).
  • Tuberculosis (Mantoux) Screening or Chest X‑Ray requirement prior to employment.
  • Employment reference checks for all finalists.
