- Administers speech and language evaluations, tests or examinations to diagnose and plan treatments for clients/patients/residents with various speech problems and swallowing disorders.
- Develops individualized treatment plans based on clinical diagnoses.
- Provides speech and language services, monitors disease progression, and adjusts treatments accordingly.
- Instructs clients/patients/residents in practicing speech and language therapeutic exercises and offers consultation during the treatment process.
- Ensures compliance with all speech and language related standards, policies, protocols and quality requirements.
- Maintains documentation in accordance with departmental guidelines and meets all regulatory requirements.
- Exhibits flexibility with variable work schedules and assignments, focusing on post‑acute, long‑term care and home health environments.
- Collaborates with providers, case managers, third‑party payers, public organizations, and other stakeholders outside the department.
- May supervise assistants, aides, and students providing client/patient/resident care, treatment, or other services.
- Provides ongoing education and training to peers in the area(s) of expertise as determined by department leadership.
- Performs other related duties as requested by the manager.
- Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.
- Licensed Speech‑Language Pathologist in the state(s) of practice.
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence issued or currently working on Clinical Fellowship Year (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license may be required.
- Obtains and maintains required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within first 60 days of employment.
