- Friday core working hours are required between 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM with daily schedules agreed upon with the HR Director.
Hastings College is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive onsite Temporary HR Assistant to support the Human Resources Department during a team leave of absence. The employment period will be from approximately mid-January to mid-April. The schedule is 30 hours per week with flexible hours. While Hastings College HR operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, we offer flexibility on start and end times provided core operational hours (9:00 AM to 2:30 PM) are covered.
Reporting directly to the HR Director in a fast-paced, two-person department, this role will be instrumental in managing day-to-day administrative functions, maintaining employee records, supporting HRIS and benefit processes, and delivering exceptional service to Hastings College employees.
Job Summary:
- Serve as the primary first point of contact for the HR office, triaging inquiries via phone, email, and in-person visits.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files and the HRIS.
- Conduct new hire onboarding, including issuing offer packets, initiating background checks, and tracking Form I-9 completion.
- Assist with administering employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement plans, and leave policies.
- Escalate any employee relations issues to the Director of Human Resources.
- Receive, review, and accurately enter department invoices into Req Logic.
- Help maintain HR content on the college internal portal/website.
- Assist with routine HR compliance auditing and reporting.

Education & Experience:
- Associate’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field and at least one year of experience in human resources; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience using ADP preferred.
