Position: Teaching Assistant - Level 3 (Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School)

Hours of work: 30.5 hours per week.

Working pattern:
Part-time, term-time only (working for 39 weeks per year plus 6.05 weeks annual leave, which will increase after 5 years' continuous service). (As the position is part-time & term-time only, the above salary will be pro rata)

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work in Year 6, preferably with previous experience of working with children as a TA. The role will also include lunch and break time duties.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Supporting children in KS2 with their learning and development
  • Leading small group activities focused on early literacy, numeracy, and social skills
  • Assisting the class teacher with the daily set up and running of the classroom
  • Monitoring and reporting on children's progress to the teacher and SENCO
  • Helping to manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Providing support for children with additional learning needs or SEN
Desirable skills and experience
  • Basic understanding of child development and learning
  • Commitment to Inclusion
  • Calm, kind and flexible approach
  • Ability to work under the general guidance of the Class Teacher
  • Experience of working with children
  • Enthusiasm, patience, and ability to build positive relationships with children and staff
  • Be suitably qualified for the post of Teaching Assistant i.e. to have good basic literacy and numeracy skills (to GCSE level or above) and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
