Recruitment through Academics

Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and develop confidence in their abilities?

Academics is looking for a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to support pupils within a specialist secondary school setting in East Sussex. The school supports young people with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties, providing an individualised approach to teaching and learning.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with pupils, adapting their approach to individual needs and helping young people realise their academic potential.

The Role:
  • Supporting pupils aged 11-19 with dyslexia and associated learning difficulties.

  • Working alongside teachers to make lessons accessible and engaging.

  • Providing individual and small-group support with reading, writing, spelling and written tasks.

  • Breaking down instructions and reinforcing learning through practical and multisensory approaches.

  • Helping pupils develop organisation, independent learning and study skills.

  • Encouraging confidence, resilience and a positive attitude towards education.

The Ideal Candidate :
  • Has experience working with children or young people in an educational or support setting.

  • Has an interest in dyslexia, literacy development or specific learning difficulties.

  • Is patient, encouraging and able to adapt their communication style.

  • Can support pupils without taking away their independence.

  • Is proactive, reliable and passionate about education.

Experience in a specialist SEN setting, literacy intervention or dyslexia support would be beneficial. A willingness to develop specialist knowledge is also valuable, subject to the school's requirements.

If you are looking for a rewarding opportunity where you can make a meaningful difference to young people's education, Academics would love to hear from you.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
