Are you looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference to children with autism and additional needs?

Academics are currently recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist school in the Robertsbridge area, supporting primary-aged pupils with autism and a range of additional needs.

This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with teaching staff to help pupils communicate, engage with learning and develop confidence and independence. You will support children with individual learning needs, using a patient, consistent and nurturing approach throughout the school day.

You will be supporting pupils with needs such as:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Speech, language and communication difficulties
  • Sensory processing needs
  • Social, emotional and mental health needs
  • ADHD and difficulties with emotional regulation
  • Moderate to severe learning difficulties
  • Anxiety and difficulties managing changes to routines or demands

The role will involve:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
  • Helping pupils access learning through practical and sensory activities
  • Supporting communication, interaction and social development
  • Helping pupils manage emotions and regulate their behaviour
  • Following individual support plans and providing a consistent approach
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement
  • Working closely with teachers and the wider SEN team

Previous SEN experience is desirable, but we are also interested in hearing from candidates with backgrounds in care, childcare, autism support, speech and language support, psychology or similar, who are looking to move into education.

Patience, adaptability and the ability to build positive relationships are essential. Experience supporting autistic children or individuals with communication and sensory needs would be particularly beneficial.

Full Time | Monday-Friday | Robertsbridge Area | SEN School

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy
