About the Role

As a Registered Nurse or Midwife in our Maternity Ward, youll play a vital role in supporting women and their whānau through pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. This is a dynamic environment where youll provide safe, evidence-based care, advocate for womens choices, and contribute to positive outcomes for mothers and babies.

Your day may include comprehensive assessments, planning and delivering care, health education, and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. About the Team/Service/ Location

Our Maternity Service is based at Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital, providing secondary care for women and babies across the region. We work closely with Lead Maternity Carers, obstetric teams, and community providers to ensure seamless, culturally safe care. Youll join a passionate team committed to excellence, equity, and whānau-centred practice.

About you

You will bring:

  • Current registration and Annual Practising Certificate with the Nursing Council of NZ (Registered Nurse) or Midwifery Council of NZ (Registered Midwife).
  • Ability to apply Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and provide culturally safe care.
  • Strong clinical skills and adaptability to work in a busy, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a focus on patient safety and quality care.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.
