About the Role
As a Sterile Services Technician, you will play a vital part in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of patient care. Your day will involve cleaning, disinfecting, inspecting, packing, and sterilising a wide range of reusable medical instruments and equipment. You will follow established protocols and utilise specialised machinery to ensure all items meet the highest standards of safety and quality.
This role offers the opportunity to work in a highly supportive and professional environment where attention to detail and teamwork are paramount. Youll be a key contributor in maintaining efficient clinical workflows and ensuring our surgical and procedural areas have the sterile equipment they need when they need it.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Our Sterile Services team is a dedicated group of technicians who work collaboratively to deliver high‑quality reprocessing services for clinical departments across Hawkes Bay Hospital. We pride ourselves on maintaining excellent standards and supporting wider hospital services through reliable, efficient sterile supply.
About you
As a Sterile Services Technician, you will bring:
- Certificate in Sterilising Technology (Level 3 or above), or willingness to work towards this qualification
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Experience working within a sterile services or healthcare environment (preferred)
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑focused environment
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem‑solving
