Sewing Machinist

Location: Rye

Our client is an established interior manufacturer based in the South East. They are currently looking for an experienced Sewing Machinist to join their hardworking and dedicated team in Rye, East Sussex.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience as a sewing machinist, have previously used and possess a strong understanding of industrial sewing machines, have used a variety of materials including leather and nylon based products and be able to follow patterns accurately with a strong attention to detail.

As a Sewing Machinist you will be responsible for the manufacturing of high-quality interior parts using industrial machines. Other duties will include carrying out trimming and gluing work. You will use a variety of materials including leather and nylon based products as well as solvent-based adhesives, aerosols and compressor-driven equipment safely.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualities:

Demonstrable experience as a sewing machinist

Experience using industrial sewing machines

Ability to sew leather and nylon-based products under tension

Possess strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow patterns

Ability to troubleshoot common industrial sewing machine issues

Be able to work independently as well as in a team

Your duties as a Sewing Machinist would be:

Manufacturing high-quality interior parts using industrial sewing machines

Sewing a variety of materials including leather and nylon-based products

Performing trimming and gluing work alongside sewing tasks as required

Using solvent-based adhesives, aerosols and compressor-driven equipment safely

Troubleshooting industrial sewing machine issues

Ensuring workstations are kept in a clean, tidy and safe manner

Keeping a steady pace and meeting production targets

Salary:

£13 - £15 per hour depending on experience

Hours:

Monday – Friday, 9am – 5.30pm
