Group Financial Accountant

Job Overview

As a Group Financial Accountant you will support the Head of Group Accounting in ensuring the Group meets financial reporting, governance and control requirements. Your role will include accurate and timely accounting for balance sheet and P&L items below EBITDA, preparation of company accounts under IFRS, FRS 101 and European GAAP, and support for monthly, half‑year and full‑year reporting cycles, audit readiness and robust financial controls.

• Own month‑end close activities for P&L items below EBITDA and related balance sheet accounts, delivering listed‑company standard journals, technical calculations and reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly Group P&L and balance sheet reporting under IFRS; support consolidation, reporting timetables and produce balance sheet substantiation and commentary.
• Coordinate statutory accounts across the UK and European subsidiaries under IFRS, FRS 101 and local GAAP, ensuring alignment with Group policies and external reporting requirements.
• Support interim and full‑year reporting and disclosures; act as key contact for external auditors.
• Help strengthen financial controls and documentation; contribute to technical accounting papers.
• Lead finance‑led projects such as reporting enhancements, systems improvements and listed‑company readiness initiatives.

• ACA qualified with 1‑2 years post‑qualification experience and strong knowledge of IFRS (including IAS 16, IFRS 18, IFRS 16 and IFRS
  3).
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical matters to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills, able to work independently or as part of a team and take full ownership of assigned projects.
• Experience in a regulated, well‑controlled reporting environment with a clear understanding of audit and governance expectations.
• Experience with Dynamics 365 or another major ERP system is desirable.
