We are currently seeking Lecturers to teach across a range of undergraduate levels as part of the BSc (Hons) Computing programme at Global Banking School. Flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and weekends is required. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
What you’ll be doingAs a Lecturer in Computing you will deliver modules centred on the three main themes of the programme:
Technology, Software, and Data. You will develop and deliver comprehensive course materials that equip students with knowledge of database systems, internet technologies, data science, cyber‑security, networking, and business information systems. You will manage all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment and stay up to date with the latest developments in your field and student support practices.
- Plan, deliver and assess student work, ensuring all learning outcomes are met.
- Develop, update and improve course materials as appropriate.
- Use a variety of learning and teaching methods and materials.
- Engage in staff development activities, peer observations, meetings and other administrative duties.
- Keep up to date with developments in your field and student support practices.
- Work towards clear objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, satisfaction and progression.
- Hold a master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable).
- Have previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of two or more of the following areas:
Programming and software development
Web development
Database systems
Cloud computing
Networking
Cyber‑security
IoT and emerging technologies
Business IT systems
IT management
AI and Machine Learning
Operating Systems
UI/UX - Experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback.
- Accurate reporting and ability to maintain thorough and organised student records.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and team‑working skills.
- Capability to work with diverse groups of people.
- Hold a Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent).
- Experience in designing/developing academic or professional education programmes or equivalent.
- 25 days annual leave plus 8 public holidays.
