From EHCPs and statutory assessments to adulthood transitions, you’ll provide practical information, advocacy and ongoing guidance that helps families make informed decisions. What’s in it for you Salary of £26,000 pro rata, equivalent to £18,270 for 26 hours per week Part-time hours offering a meaningful role within the charity sector 18-month funded contract, with further funding being sought to potentially extend the position by three to five years Opportunity to directly improve access to education, health and social care provision for families Varied work including one-to-one guidance, outreach, community events, workshops and peer programmes Training and professional development to keep your knowledge and skills up to date Your responsibilities as SEND Family Advocacy Support Worker Provide outreach and one-to-one guidance through home and school visits, community venues and office-based appointments Help parents and carers understand disability rights, EHCPs, statutory assessments, reports, reviews and correspondence Advocate alongside families during planning and review meetings, helping them contribute effectively to decisions Guide families through adulthood transitions, including access to appropriate health and social care provision Build links with schools, statutory services, faith groups and community organisations to improve access for underrepresented families Organise community engagement, workshops and peer-to-peer initiatives while maintaining accurate referral, action plan and monitoring records What we’re looking for in a SEND Family Advocacy Support Worker Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs and working with their parents or carers Good knowledge of relevant legislation, EHCPs, statutory processes, disability rights and safeguarding procedures Understanding of the barriers affecting Black, South Asian, Minoritised Ethnic and other marginalised communities when accessing services
Experience of community development, participation work and engaging effectively with statutory, voluntary and community organisations A relevant A Level, O Level, GCSE, NVQ Level 3 qualification in social care, special needs, childcare or early years studies, or an equivalent qualification Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Closing date: 5pm, Monday 12 October 2026. Interviews will take place in person in Wolverhampton during the weeks commencing 19 October and 26 October 2026.
