CURRICULUM COORDINATOR/SPECIALISTS (ELA) Qualifications

• Possess elementary and/or secondary teaching credential and a minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience
• AA certificate in Administration and Supervision (preferred)
• Knowledge of Mississippi College and Career Readiness standards
• Knowledge of evaluation and assessment practices
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, school sites, community members and government agencies
• Ability to coordinate a variety of activities at different sites
• Ability to provide professional development to staff

Director of Curriculum and Instruction

To provide leadership and coordination in the ongoing development and improvement of the curriculum and instructional program of the district

Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including, but not limited to:

• Provides leadership to ensure understanding of the educational program objectives of the district
• Provides leadership to promote the educational program objectives of the district
• Provides leadership in monitoring students’ progress in obtaining academic goals and measured objectives
• Works with principals and teaching staff to effect horizontal and vertical continuity and articulation of the instructional program throughout the district
• Assists in the developments and trends in curriculum and instruction and furnish leadership in determining program direction and improvements to the curriculum and the instructional program
• Keeps abreast of developments and trends in curriculum and instruction and furnish leadership in determining program direction and improvements to curriculum and instruction
• Serves as a liaison and participate with curriculum leaders at the local, state and/or national level
• Communicates the district instructional program to the Board of Trustees, the administration, the staff and the general public
• Engages in assigned research related to education programs
• Assists in the collection and interpretation of assessment data
• Assists in the use of data to inform the instructional process
• Works with the Curriculum and Instruction Department to develop, produce, locate and deliver professional development programs and opportunities, which are consistent with and supportive of the vision and mission of the district and the enhancement of student learning
• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
• Supports the Hattiesburg Public School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan
• Performs other duties as assigned

• Annually
