Base Pay Range$48,300.00 - $62,800.00 annually

As a Water Operator II
, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services – uninterrupted. Based in Jackson, MS
, you’ll be reporting to the Water Plant Operations supervisor and supervise Water Plan Operators I, Operators and Operators‑in‑Training. You’ll participate in the work of staff involved in the operation of the water treatment plants and water wells; participate in training new employees; evaluate and aid in employee performance along with training staff in appropriate treatment and sampling methods and techniques.
You’ll perform inspections of water treatment plants and well systems; monitor and document plant operations by reading plant equipment gauges, dials, graphs, and other instrumentation. You’ll operate and adjust treatment plant pumps, motors, feeders, and other equipment to maintain appropriate plant operations. You’ll monitor treatment plant facilities and water wells; recommend changes in raw water and finish water flows; change chemical feeder dosages as necessary.
You’ll monitor chemicals in the water; mix and adjust chemical residuals including chlorine, chloramine, pH and other related elements. You’ll maintain plant operations logs and reports; document amount of chemicals used; report material or equipment needs to supervisor. You’ll collect liquid samples and perform a variety of routine water quality laboratory tests. Ensure the adherence to safe work practices by assigned plant operations personnel.
Other duties and responsibilities will include reporting repair and service needs of plant machinery and equipment including pumps, valves, motors, engines, meters; drive‑equipment; record failures of and problems with equipment. Supervising and assist in performing general plant facility maintenance and cleaning. Respond to customer inquiries and complaints regarding water quality; explain plant operations, policies, and procedures as well as staying familiar of changing Federal, State, and local laws and regulations regarding water treatment and water quality.

Essential Qualifications- 3+ years of experience performing water purification and treatment duties
- Possess a valid Class A Water Works Certificate
- A valid driver’s license with no major infractions
