Business Intelligence Analyst

Job Summary:

Attends Epic certification classes, completes required testing/projects, and maintains Epic certifications as required/assigned.

Participates in activities related to the creation, documentation, testing, and support of the hospital’s reporting and data extraction needs to maintain a quality electronic medical record (EMR). Collaborates with end-users, administration, and vendors to understand business processes, elicit reporting requirements, and ensure proper testing and validation. Assists in ongoing reporting support of the EMR, including new installations, software updates, upgrades, approved projects, and other tasks via a helpdesk ticketing system.

Reviews upgrade release notes and user requests to implement approved and prioritized tasks. Manages assignments at various stages of completion while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.

Participates in meetings with build analysts/developers, managers, and operational stakeholders to gather necessary information. Documents work efforts promptly and communicates effectively with clinical and non-clinical staff to understand needs and provide status updates. Adheres to all policies and procedures. Communicates clearly both orally and in writing with analysts, end users, and managers.

Prioritizes assignments based on timelines and informs management of potential obstacles. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Engages with staff, patients, families, and visitors of all ages, respecting cultural and religious beliefs.

Performance Expectations:

• Obtains and maintains multiple Epic certifications supporting assigned application areas.
• Researches, develops, and introduces new functionalities to users.
• Resolves issues reported by users.
• Documents actions taken on helpdesk tickets with clear notes.

Qualifications:

Education/

Skills:

Associate’s Degree in an IT-related field or equivalent experience required. Experience with relational databases (T-SQL) and report development preferred.

Work Experience:

Experience in data analysis and report development required; healthcare experience is a plus.

Certification/Licensure:

• Epic Cogito certification within 60 days of employment.
• Epic Caboodle Data Model certification within 100 days.
• Epic Clarity Data Model certification within 140 days.
• Access, Revenue, or Clinical Data Model certification within 180 days.
