Plumber, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Summary:
Installs and demolishes piping (steam, water, sewage) and related plumbing fixtures using standard approved methods and procedures.
Can lay out and do take off for basic plumbing/piping installations and install fixtures using drawings and installation manuals. At times, maintains faucets, sinks, drains, commodes, and valves. Determines necessity for replacing parts. Inspects equipment and fixtures periodically to detect and repair leaks and other faults. Performs additional related duties as required to meet project schedules, including clear communication with the supervisor and assisting co-workers in the construction department (not limited to plumbing work only, you will be required to help other trades in times of need).
Must have a willingness to work for the best interest of the hospital and with due consideration for patients. Must be able to work under emergency conditions and difficult situations. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
- Demonstrates the ability to plan, make material lists, obtain materials, and install piping systems based on construction drawings.
- Demonstrates the ability to install various plumbing fixtures such as toilets, faucets, heaters, specialized equipment.
Education/Skills
High school Diploma or GED required. Able to obtain and maintain Backflow Certification
Work Experience:At least five years of experience with plumbing required. Plumber’s license or evidence of code knowledge through experience required.
Certification/Licensure—DUE UPON HIRE- Valid Driver's License
- Maintain a Good Driving Record
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions, ability to read and understand blueprints, cooperate with others, demonstrate initiative.
