Sr. Accountant

Senior Accountant opportunity with leading Hauppauge area distribution company. In support of organic grown, this privately held organization is adding to their team and is looking to hire. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the month-end close process, and ensuring accounting activity is properly analyzed and reconciled. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger expertise, advanced Excel skills, and a background working in distribution-focused environments.

Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly close activities by preparing schedules, reviewing balances, and helping ensure financial reporting deadlines are met.
• Prepare and post journal entries with supporting documentation to maintain accurate accounting records.
• Oversee general ledger activity, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Perform detailed reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and follow through on outstanding items.
• Complete bank reconciliations regularly and address differences between banking and internal records.
• Analyze financial data in Excel to identify trends, support reporting, and improve accuracy in accounting processes.
• Partner with internal teams to support accounting needs related to retail and wholesale distribution operations.
• Assist with process improvements and accounting-related operational changes when needed while maintaining strong internal controls
