POSITION SUMMARY:

The Teacher Aide is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in the general supervision and management of the children. The Aide may also be assigned as a one-to-one for a particular child and assist the child in daily activities within the school setting. This position serves children from birth to 21 years.

• Assists in the implementation of daily programs and activities under the direction of the teacher.
• Assists in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers and preparing needed materials and supplies.
• Attends to the students with physical needs in the classroom including daily and functional living skills.
• Encourages students by providing positive feedback about their abilities and performance.
• Assists teachers with the administration of tests and assignments and monitoring student progress.
• Addresses behaviors and coordinates with teachers when appropriate for behavior management.
• Supervises student activities outside the classroom such as recess, specials, and the restroom, when needed.
• Demonstrates an awareness of and adherence to safety and legal requirements established at the facility with an emphasis on maintaining a safe environment for all persons working in the facility.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The Teaching Aide shall be at least 18 years of age.

A high school diploma is required.

At least 1 year experience in child care/development is required. Must hold a valid Teaching Assistant Certification. Bilingual Preferred (English/Spanish).

USD $19.50 - USD $25.00 /Hr.
