This is an as Needed Part-Time Essential Services Position which will require you to work day and/or night shifts to include weekends and holidays. This position is subject to the Service Contract Act and is classified as non-exempt, which means you will be eligible for overtime.
Hourly: $28.73/hr

Our Linguists are responsible for performing real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Spanish (Caribbean dialects: Puerto Rican and Dominican) to English; collecting, analyzing, identifying, and decoding colloquialisms and slang terms; extracting pertinent information and communicating that information to law enforcement agents. The linguist will transcribe source documents and recordings from storage media, including audio cassettes, videocassettes, or digital media.
Responsibilities- Listen to oral and written intercepts or pre-recorded communications in Spanish and provide verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as applicable per project.
- Relate all pertinent information to the Client when supporting a live project.
- Contribute to a master list of slang words and codes used by a group or organization for the duration of the project/case.
- Maintain a voice library for the duration of the project.
- Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned by their supervisor.
- Produce court-ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents, following the required format.
- Use reference tools created during the project.
- Transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8-hour day.
- Operate specialized software and equipment provided by the government (e.g., JSI voice box, Pen-link, Comverse, and other collection equipment).
- Maintain a daily productivity log.
- Performs related duties as assigned, within the scope of practice.
- Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years of professional experience OR Associate degree with five (5) years OR High School Diploma with seven (7) years.
- Minimum of one (1) year of transcription experience in the required language.
- Subject to government background investigation and eligibility requirements to access classified information.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.
- Knowledge of source language colloquial terms and expressions; SMS language, social media, and Webchat.
- Excellent verbal and written skills in the target language with correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Contract requirement:
Grade 3 or better on a third-party Language Assessment (Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing) in English. - Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with management and law enforcement personnel.
- Good prioritization and time management; ability to balance multiple tasks and work in a team environment.
- Ability to take technical direction and feedback from various sources.
- Typing speed of 45 words per minute.
- Ability to obtain/maintain a Security Clearance
- Favorable credit check for cleared positions
- Successful background investigation, medical, and drug screen

- Permanent Resident who has lived in the U.S. for the past 3 of the last 5 years
- Standing/Walking/Mobility: mobility to attend meetings with managers and employees
- Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: 0% - 10% of the time
- Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: 0% - 10% of the time
- Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: able to write, type, and use a telephone system 100% of the time
- Sitting: prolonged sitting while monitoring live or taped calls; may be restricted when handling live monitoring and translating
