Field Service Technician – Modern Packaging Machinery
Do you love to travel? Passionate about serving as a brand ambassador? Feel fulfilled by solving technical challenges? Our field service team specializes in keeping our machine performance strong. We’re looking for a motivated technician based in the Midwestern or Western United States who thrives on solving problems and building customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Install, commission, repair, and maintain Modern Packaging automated machinery at customer sites, including electrical and mechanical work.
- Troubleshoot and adjust equipment to achieve contracted efficiency rates, perform audits, install upgrades, and deliver follow‑up operator training.
- Document all service activities in detailed site reports.
- Support customers by recommending machine upgrades, retrofits, and spare parts that improve safety, performance, reliability, and inventory management.
- Train customer personnel during installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
- While not traveling, support the Modern facility in Deer Park, NY by assembling and testing new machines and participating in customer Factory Acceptance Tests.
- Maintain flexibility to adapt to diverse work environments and resolve issues quickly.
We offer comprehensive compensation and benefits. Base Salary Range: $28.00 – $37.00 an hour. Qualifications- Previous experience as a Field Service Technician (or similar) with 3+ years of machine startup, repair, and maintenance on medium to large‑scale industrial equipment.
- High School Diploma required;
Associate’s Degree in a related technical field (mechanical or electrical) preferred. - Strong technical skills, including mechanical repair, ability to read part and assembly drawings, wiring schematics, and familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs, VFDs, and servo controllers (preferred).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong organizational, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, able to explain technical information clearly, train customer personnel, and work well with operators and management at all levels.
- Self‑motivated, adaptable, able to work independently while maintaining a positive, professional attitude.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% domestically and internationally; passport required; occasional trips to Mexico and Canada.
