Sr. Principal Engineer, Medical Imaging SW Architect

Overview

Sr. Principal Engineer, Medical Imaging SW Architect at Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corporation. This role focuses on architecting and designing embedded real-time software for medical imaging applications, leading mission-critical deliveries, and interfacing with customers and cross-functional teams.

• Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable large-scale software systems.
• Work with V-model and Agile methodologies.
• Apply object-oriented design, analysis, and implementation.
• Establish parameterized module libraries for high re-use.
• Develop and troubleshoot high-speed, reliable communication interfaces.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and determine practical solutions.
• Perform software unit testing, regression testing, and test automation.
• Develop web development capabilities for embedded systems.
• Program in C++, C, and other languages; develop PC software for Windows or Linux; create GUI/HMI interfaces and implement specialized protocols.
• Use emulators, debuggers, JTAG, IDEs, and other design/verification tools.
• Interface with customers to understand requirements and translate them into architectures and solutions.
• Collaborate with analog engineers, project leaders, manufacturing, test groups, and customers.
• Document, update specifications, and create programming and testing procedures for internal and customer use.
• Perform firmware/software change control and design verification testing.
• Stay current on new technologies through vendor seminars/workshops.
• Support R&D for new products and technologies.

• Minimum of BS/BT/EE or equivalent (higher education preferred).
• Ability to program in C++, C#, and
  
  C.
• Ability to create basic graphical user interfaces (GUI, HMI, MMI) for operator control.
• At least 15+ years of relevant software architecture development and design for medical and industrial imaging.
• Expert in software development, design and verification processes/tools for highly regulated and safety-driven applications.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites (up to 30%).
• Independent and self-motivated with strong analytical and creative thinking; able to collaborate in a team environment.

Salary range estimated at $160,000 – $231,000, depending on education and experience; exact compensation varies with skills and experience. This position requires on-site presence at Spellman High Voltage headquarters in Hauppauge, NY. A comprehensive benefits package is offered in addition to base pay.
